Biography
Winn Wittman is well known in the architectural community of Austin, Texas. His homes have been on the 1996 and 1999 American Institute of Architecture Homes Tour. Winn has designed a number of award-winning projects in the Austin area, as well as in Boston and New York. He received his B.A. in Fine Arts from Tufts University and his M. Arch from the University of Texas at Austin where he received an A.I.A.S. Fellowship, as well as the Hal Box Fellowship and an A.I.A.S. National Commendation. Upon graduating from the University of Texas in 1991, Wittman formed the Avatar Group, Inc., a design-build firm. Since then they have completed a number of important projects including: the Reese Aircraft Design Building on Bee Caves Road, Austin Java Company at Barton Creek Mall, the Boat House at Wild Basin (winner of an A.I.A.S. Commendation, Unit 104, and the prototype for the Viacom Store in Chicago.) Wittman has also received awards from the Industrial Designer's Society of America and has U.S. design patents. Winn Wittman has also executed a number of large scale sculptural commissions, was nominated as a member of the Republican Senatorial Inner Circle, and has worked for former US Attorney General Elliot Richardson.
